North East Derbyshire are looking to recruit Community First Responders (CFRs) to join our team.
As a CFR you will be be attending real life 999 emergencies as part East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS), treating individuals and assisting emergency ambulance crews at various calls.
You will logged on to the 999 Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) and despatched at the same time as an ambulance or in some cases the first and only available resource at that time of the call coming in when all other ambulance resources are in Kilo 0 (no available resources). You will then be backed up by the next available vehicle once one comes free.
So as you can appreciate, although it's a voluntary role, we play a very important part in someone getting early treatment prior to the arrival an ambulance crew. For example, a patient experiencing cardiac arrest every second counts. For every minute that passes without defibrillation a person’s chances of survival can decrease by 10%.
So, could you be a CFR?
. Are you 18yrs old or above and up for a challenge?
. Would you like to help people in the community?
. Can you give up some free time?
. Do you want to learn essential lifesaving skills?
. Do you hold a full, clean driving licence, held for 1yr or more?
. Are you in reasonable good health?
If you answered ‘yes’ to all of these questions then you could be the person we are looking for.
